Mr. Giles,

Dawn's coming over! she emailed me and told me to let you know she'll be here TODAY. Later today, but today, anyway! So I was wondering if I could take a few days off, not too many, because I know we're really busy, but I really want to spend time with her. Oh, and we need to figure out where she's going to stay and everything.

I thought you'd like to know that I've heard from Xander.  He says that he's fine and he'll write everyone very soon.  I've included his address, as I'm sure you'll want to write to him.

PS:  Thank you for helping in the re-organizing of my office.  I do appreciate it.

Dawn really didn't know why she'd put things off this long--maybe because she wasn't sure how Buffy was going to take this. After all, their mom had been pretty stressed by Buffy moving into the dorms, and that was just across town. Dawn was moving across the world.

And now it just seemed totally awkward to bring things up, and so before she went out for the day, Dawn stuck her acceptance letter onto the refrigerator.

Giles sighed, once against scanning the mass of papers that his desktop had become.  Between researching, or attempting to reasearch, the scroll and normal Council business, he'd somehow lost track of his papers.

Shaking his head, Giles scribbled out a quick memo, asking Andrew to come and see him.  There was a chance that the reports he was looking for hadn't ended up in his office at all.  Giles paused in the middle of writing.  Come to think of it, Andrew had been acting slightly strange for a while now.  He did his job, of course, but he hadn't been hanging around as much as he once had.  It was probably the Dawn issue, Giles decided as he continued writing the memo.  Giles had been a little hard on him over that, after all, it wasn't as if Andrew had been passing sensitive or personal information.

After sending the memo, Giles went out for a quick bite to eat, and returned to once again to search through his desktop sea of papers.  Though now he tried to impose some sort of order on them, stacking each by subject.

Dawn actually did spend a little while studying for her math test, but as soon as she thought she heard Buffy in the other room, she decided it was time for a study break. She'd casually find out whether or not her memory was right and whether there was any reason to worry. Then she'd let Buffy be the one to freak out at Giles, if freaking out was needed.

She had to admit that of the two of them? Her sister was scarier. Also more heavily-armed.

Dawn put down her books and got up, going out into the living room.

I would take it as a personal courtesy if you would refrain from worrying and upsetting Dawn.

[OOC note: As an attempt to make the Dawn-Buffy interaction more consistent (now that we have a (hopefully) permanent player for Buffy), we're re-RP-ing their interactions. Find the new version of this conversation here.]

Since Buffy had gone back to patrolling regularly, and Dawn had school and homework, they seemed to just keep missing each other. Mostly, Dawn didn't mind--she was all right on her own, or with her friends from school, and it wasn't like she never saw Buffy.

But sometimes, when she wanted to actually ask Buffy something, it would have been helpful to see her.

Instead, Dawn left a note for Buffy on the whiteboard they'd put on the side of the refrigerator:

Have you heard from Xander lately?

The blond slayer sat at her computer staring at a blank screen. This morning she had felt so inspired to write someone an e-mail. Now looking at Word her mind went blank. She could not remember who she was going to write much less what about. Starting to get both bored and frustrated Buffy opened up a browser and decided to just look online a bit. EBay was always a fun way to waste time, at least waste time before she would hit the streets of Rome looking for vamps to slay.

Giles arrived at the office bright and early. There was so much to catch up on and to hear reports about, he had the feeling he'd probably be at the office for most of the day. That wasn't, he assured himself, such a bad thing. It would take his mind off . . . people.

The first thing he did was to send a memo to Andrew.

Please meet me in my office at your earliest convenance.

Thank you,

[Continued from here because that post was over 2 weeks old and therefore not on anyone's friends pages any longer.]

Drusilla's first words confused him, which he was certain was what they were meant to do. She was grasping at straws, pretending she knew more about him than she did, and it was pure chance that it sounded as though she'd picked up on his thoughts. Not that it was impossible that she might have, of course, but in Ethan's experience, it was far more likely that she was only guessing.

He didn't have time to respond, though; before he could react, she'd grabbed him by the throat, and anything he might have been about to say went out of his mind the instant he got a look at her face.

He'd been so concerned about human threats that he hadn't given too much thought to supernatural ones, and now a vampire had him by the throat. She was far too strong for him to be able to get away, he knew, but that didn't stop him from struggling.

"You don't want me," he argued, still struggling against Drusilla's grasp on his throat. "I'm old and tough and half my blood's probably alcohol by now...."
